Kentucky VINE and Montgomery Custody
VINELink is the public face of Kentucky VINE, the state's automated victim-information and notification service. Kentucky Department of Corrections materials describe custody data flowing in from jails and prisons. Mental-health facilities feed the same reporting. The Attorney General points to statewide access covering local jails and adult correctional facilities. No county participation chart exists on those pages. The sound method is to pick Kentucky in the live service and search for the person. Then confirm the match points to the jail or institution you expect. If Montgomery County Regional Jail returns no match, call the jail. Do not conclude nobody is held there. The regional jail is the local source after an arrest. That holds for MCSO, Mount Sterling Police, Kentucky State Police, or another agency. VINE pulls data for alerts and may not mirror the jail instantly. Someone cited and released on the spot may never enter the feed at all. A person shifted to state custody may show up later under a different institution. So "not found" can mean several things. None of them alone tells you where the person is or how the case stands. VINE answers one question: custody. It can show someone in custody, released, or transferred. That display is based on the reporting agency's data. It does not replace a booking record or show a court outcome.
Check a Montgomery Arrest on VINELink
Search one person at a time. A name alone is not enough, since common names return multiple records. Even a photo, where one appears, proves little on its own. Check the facility, identifier, birth details, and status the live application shows. Do this before you trust a match.
- Open VINELink and select Kentucky as the service area.
- Choose the custody search and enter the name or identifier requested by the application.
- Begin with a correct surname and first name, then narrow the results only as needed.
- Open a possible match and compare all available identity details and the listed facility.
- Read the custody status and update context before choosing whether to register for notifications.
The Montgomery County arrest lookup overview shows where the original jail and court records live, since VINELink carries neither the incident narrative nor a charge's outcome. The official VINELink application displays the Kentucky search screen you'll use.
The VINELink interface lets you select Kentucky, review the current options, and register without exposing anyone's private contact details.
Montgomery VINE Result Fields
Screens and fields change, depending on the reporting facility. Read the labels the application shows now rather than expecting every match to carry the same detail.
| Possible result | What it means |
|---|---|
| Name and identifier | Tools for matching the right person; a name alone may not be unique. |
| Custody status | The status available to VINE at that update, not a court judgment. |
| Facility | The jail or institution reporting the person to the service. |
| Release information | A reported custody change that should be confirmed when safety or timing matters. |
| Transfer information | An indication that the person moved, not that the case ended. |
| Notification options | The phone or email channels currently offered for that record. |
A Montgomery County jail record, a Kentucky DOC record, and a VINE result can overlap without matching. JailTracker is the direct current county-jail source. KOOL covers state corrections. VINE tracks status and alerts across systems. Note: Save the record identifier and facility name, not a screenshot of a status that may change.
Register for Kentucky VINE Alerts
Kentucky VINE registration costs nothing. State materials describe telephone and email sign-up, multiple phone numbers, and a four-digit PIN. Pick contact details that are safe at any hour, because automated calls can come whenever custody changes.
- Open the correct person’s record after checking the available identity and facility details.
- Select the notification or registration option shown for that record.
- Choose a phone number, email address, or other method currently offered by the service.
- Create and retain the required four-digit PIN for telephone acknowledgment.
- Review the registration confirmation and keep the VINELink record details available.
The PIN confirms an automated phone notice. It is not a jail PIN or a case number. Per the Attorney General, local-jail release calls repeat about every 30 minutes for up to 24 hours. They continue until acknowledged. DOC materials also describe release, county-jail transfer, escape, and parole-hearing notices where they apply. Registration never replaces a safety plan. It also does not replace an official status check. Keep the person's identifying details and reporting facility handy for VINE support or the jail. If a notice conflicts with JailTracker, note both update times. Then ask Montgomery County Regional Jail which public custody status is current. No alert can predict a court date or a bond decision. It also cannot predict an exact arrival time at another institution.
Why Kentucky VINE Calls Repeat
Repeated calls are deliberate in Kentucky's local-jail release alerts. The system may call every 30 minutes. It can keep that up for a full day until someone answers and enters the PIN. Keep that PIN close. A valid notice should not keep running because no one confirmed it. Use a number the recipient controls. Never place private contact details in a public search field or screenshot. If a phone or email changes, go back and review the registration. Do not trust the old alert to land right. You can also reach Kentucky VINE by phone at 1-800-511-1670. Kentucky's Office of Victims Services lists 502-564-5061 and 877-687-6818 for help. For a suspected fresh-booking delay, try the regional jail. Its regular phone line is still the better source.
Montgomery VINE Limits and Verification
VINE and the Montgomery County jail roster do not move in lockstep. One may lag the other by hours. A search that comes up empty can mean many things. A misspelled name will do it. So can a very fresh booking or a release. A transfer to another facility can do it too, as can a record that simply sits outside VINE. For an event that just happened, start with two sources. Run the Montgomery County Arrested Today check. Then call Montgomery County Regional Jail at (859) 498-8747.
Federal custody sits outside Kentucky VINE entirely. The Bureau of Prisons locator handles that population, though it shows no booking photos. ICE runs its own detainee locator with a different identifier model. Federal pretrial custody may point you back to the originating federal court. It may also point to the U.S. Marshals district contact. None of these belong in a Montgomery County booking search.
Kentucky Online Offender Lookup adds one more layer. KOOL tends to reflect a sentenced state prisoner or DOC data. It can lag several days behind in-processing. Its update schedule is its own. A KOOL hit is not the same thing as a fresh Montgomery County arrest. The official KOOL FAQ lays out the state system's photo and timing limits.
This state source separates DOC processing from a local jail booking and from a VINE custody-change notice.
VINE Status Is Not Guilt
A VINE match passes along custody information from a participating facility. That is all it does. Booking charges can change later. Courts amend or dismiss them all the time.
Confirm the person first. Then confirm the custody status with the facility doing the reporting. If your question is how the case ended, go to the Montgomery Circuit Clerk and the official court record. If your question is whether someone is held right now, contact the jail or institution named in the result.
